For someone that’s not in a band, I spend a lot of my life on the road, in a van or tent. And because I’m so style conscious (or fashion crazy), I’ve had to make some adjustments to remain glamourous while living out of a suitcase. I’ve made my list of favourite travel items that will keep you looking great and feeling fresh, while embracing music festival season.
- A great Hat is your best summer accessory! Not only does it protect your skin from sun damage, it also hides your dusty, matted hair. I had been coveting this purple straw hat for some time, until I found a similar one (pictured right) at a vintage shop in Nashville.
- Dry Shampoo is as good as hair wash. This is an effective way to absorb the excess grease from your hair after a few days without washing it. I find it also makes my hair easier to style, and adds body. It works best if you’ve got light coloured hair, because it can leave a white residue. My fave brand of dry shampoo is Batiste.
- Tinted Moisturizer + Bronzer = Fresh Face. A great combination to instantly make you look showered, hydrated and well rested. I use Jane Iredale Dream Tint, which has SPF 15 and natural moisturizers like shea butter, with a lightweight finish. It makes a good makeup primer as well. Add a some bronzer on top to get the sun kissed look without tanning your skin.
- Face Wipes fix Everything. After a big day, or long night, all you want to do is crawl into your sleeping bag. You’re not going to feel like taking your make up off, so it’s best to make it extra easy. I like traveling with Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. I know a lot of gals with kids use Baby Wipes instead. They’re great for removing heavy eye make up, and you can also use them to freshen up other areas of your body in between showers!
