Wednesday 13 June, 2012 – For Immediate Release
Merging old-time country & Appalachian music with a Cajun flavour, The Kindness Killers have been haunting audiences across the land with their textured, evocative performances. Comprised of Julia Fenn (tenor guitar, vocals) and Benj Rowland (guitar, banjo, accordion, vocals), this timeless duo is an emerging force on the Canadian roots scene, recently opening shows for Great Lake Swimmers and The Weather Station. Journeying from their hometown of Peterborough, ON (where they were just nominated for Country Band of The Year at the 2012 Wire Awards), The Kindness Killers are returning to the East Coast for three intimate shows. Their last jaunt out East was in Spring 2011 where they debuted their self-titled EP to maritime audiences.

“The Kindness Killers turn a youthful spin on traditional folk music that is equally invigorating and affirming. Their astute musicianship and stunning harmonies will appeal to both hardcore folkies and those with an ear for folk’s resurgence – think of heart-rending country blues, deft string bands, or the original Carter Family reincarnated in glorious new colour almost a hundred years after the fact. One of rural Ontario folk’s best-kept secrets; they are the real deal!”
– Tony Dekker, Great Lake Swimmers
