Ridin’ High Records is a partnership between multi instrumentalist/songwriter Chris Altmann and DJ/music supervisor/writer Alysha Main. Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2010 as a record label and artist management company, the business moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 2013. Services now include live performance, session recording, DJing, music supervision, grant writing, bio writing and event management.
Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Altmann was born in the Adelaide Hills of Australia, and now resides in Canada. Along his journey he has embraced many musical styles; from his country-rock tinged group The Drowners, to the more modern pop/rock sound of The Vandas, and on to a solo career steeped in early 1970s Americana. He’s also in demand as a session player, appearing on dozens of roots recordings, and performing with many artists including Tim Hicks, Blue Rodeo, Michelle McAdorey, Ginger St. James, and Henry Wagons. His music has appeared on various TV shows and films including Neighbours, Home & Away, Beneath, and I'll Take Your Dead.
Chris was nominated for Pedal Steel Guitar Player of the Year at the 2018 Canadian Country Music Awards.
“Chris Altmann makes fine, uncomplicated pop music, and he makes it sound simple. Melodies flow, lyrics feel true and unforced, and the instruments serve the songs, played with style and flair and never any showboating.” - The Age, Melbourne
